As an extension of the planned co-innovation space in the former Ankerbrotfabrik in Vienna, the declared aim of this project was to create a place of balance that brings people and bees into interaction. In this context, the idea arose to make use of the visual perception of bees. Since bees cannot see red light, a space was designed that only lets red light in through subtractive colour overlays, while ensuring a general permeability for the bees' flight. For deceleration, a spiral path was chosen that leads through two formally identical twisted structures, one covered with magenta and the other with yellow foil. The inner space, bathed in red light, is perceived as dark by the bees, while humans perceive it as red. This creates a space where bees feel calm and can build their nests on the inner structure, while humans can use it for meditation classes and other activities.
